Most Wednesdays and Sundays, Kelly Mine is open and visitors are very welcome to drop in; there is no access at other times and there is no underground access.

Often a member of KMPS will offer to show you around; alternatively a self-guide sheet is available. Another printable guide can be downloaded here.

Even better, why not arrange a group visit? Please note that a full group tour takes 2 to 2½ hours.

Kelly Mine is on the A382 between Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead at SX 795818 (map below); when open, the entrance is marked by a red traffic cone. Coming from Bovey Tracey it is on the right 2.5 miles from Bovey Tracey fire station roundabout and about 800 yds beyond Slade Cross. There is limited parking on the grass verge just past the mine entrance. From Moretonhampstead the mine is on the left about 500 yds from Kelly Cross.

Alternatively park at the Trenchford Reservoir car park at SX 804824 and walk down the footpath through historic Bullaton Farm - about 3/4 mile ( see map below). It is uphill all the way back to Bullaton!

Admission free, donations welcome.

The site is sloping and uneven; care is needed to negotiate some areas. Disabled access is limited; contact us to discuss your requirements.

Every two years there is an Open Day at the beginning of September.

To arrange party visits in advance or for more information telephone Nick Walter on 01626 853127.
